The fishing

One trip. Ten hours. The best water on the north coast.

Whether you want a relaxed day or a serious hunt, we run one honest format: a full-day charter, up to ten hours on the ocean, chasing salmon and halibut in some of the most bountiful waters on the planet. Eagles overhead, whales, seals and sea lions alongside — that’s a normal day out here.

Chinook (Spring) salmon

The big one. Early-run Springs show up in May alongside the halibut — the north coast is legendary for really big fish.

Coho salmon

Fast, acrobatic and great eating — a summer staple in the waters off Prince Rupert.

Pacific halibut

Barn-door bottom fish from the nutrient-rich banks offshore. Captain Kevin was featured in BC Outdoors’ "Bottom Monster".

Wildlife comes standard. During a day of fishing we’re likely to encounter eagles in abundance, as well as whales, seals, sea lions and a wide variety of seabirds.

Boats & skipper

A working skipper. Two proper boats.

Your captain, Kevin Wiley, is fully ticketed — Limited Masters, Advanced Marine First Aid and Restricted Radio Operator — and skippers the patrol boats MV Amwaal and Charles Hayes for the Prince Rupert Port Authority. Add 10+ years of Coast Guard Auxiliary coastal navigation and you’re in careful hands on any water.

Featured in BC Outdoors — “Bottom Monster” (2003), “Prince of Tides” (2004) and “Winter Chinook Fishing” (2008).

Season

May is the sleeper month.

Recent Mays have produced incredible fishing — big halibut and early-run Springs before the summer crowds arrive. Summer brings the classic salmon season. Dates go fast and each boat takes just three guests, so call early to line up your year.
